Leonie has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Neuroscience. She sees individuals across the lifespan and uses evidence-based treatment approaches for a range of presenting issues including stress, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma reactions, persistent pain, grief and loss reactions, emotional dysregulation, and behavioural and adjustment difficulties.
Leonie adopts a person-centred approach to therapy, which values a strong therapeutic alliance. She individualises treatment for each client, drawing on a range of integrative approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Schema Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Leonie likes to incorporate playful activities to engage children in therapy and works collaboratively with parents and schools as necessary to maximise the benefits of therapy.
