Ayma is a Provisional Psychologist who works with people across the lifespan, from all walks of life. She brings a warm, compassionate, and person-centred approach to therapy, placing the therapeutic relationship at the heart of her work. Ayma aims to create a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace, and work collaboratively towards meaningful outcomes.
Having lived and worked across Chile, Scotland and Australia, Ayma brings an appreciation of the diverse experiences, cultures, identities, and life circumstances that can shape a person's wellbeing. She welcomes working with people from diverse backgrounds and is committed to providing culturally responsive and inclusive care, including for members of the LGBTIQ+ community.
She also has a strong interest in neurodiversity and takes a neuro-affirming approach, recognising and respecting the different ways people experience, understand, and engage with the world. Her practice is trauma informed and guided by an understanding of the importance of safety, choice, collaboration, and individual context.
Ayma's therapeutic approach is grounded in humanistic and person-centred principles. She draws on CBT informed strategies where appropriate, helping clients explore the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and experiences, while tailoring therapy to the individual’s needs and goals.
Alongside her psychological practice, Ayma has a background in sport psychology and has worked as both a Sport Psychologist and an artistic roller skating coach. Working as a coach has also given her extensive experience supporting children and young people, developing positive relationships, managing group dynamics, and creating environments where individuals can feel safe, included, and encouraged to grow.
Ayma is registered as a Provisional Psychologist with AHPRA. She is committed to providing ethical, inclusive, culturally responsive, and evidence informed psychological care, and to working collaboratively with each client to support meaningful and change.
