Anxiety is a natural human response to stress or perceived threat. But when anxiety becomes frequent, intense, or shows up when it’s not needed, it can start to feel overwhelming and interfere with daily life.
Living Well with Anxiety is a structured group program that aims to guide you to better understand how your anxiety works and build skills to more effectively respond to anxiety.
This group combines concepts from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – two intervention styles for anxiety with strong research backing.
How will the group work?
• 6x weekly sessions, 2 hours per session
• Group discussions and group activities to guide your learning, reflection, and use of strategies.
• Between session activities will be discussed and encouraged to further support your new skills.
• Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions to promote their learning and new skills.
What will you learn?
• Information about the nature of anxiety.
• Tools to help you notice and catch anxiety when it arises.
• Skills and strategies to manage common symptoms of anxiety.
• Perspectives to help you change your relationship with your anxiety.
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) strategies.
Eligibility and cost:
• Valid Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) holders are eligible for rebates toward 10 group sessions AND 10 individual sessions per calendar year.
• Living Well with Anxiety has a introductory fee of $75 per session.
• Participants must be 18+ years.
• A $46.75 medicare rebate (per session) is available to those with a GP current referral and MHTP.
• An intake session is required for new clients to determine suitability (cost: $250 / MHTP rebate: $98.95)
*Not required for existing clients of Bellarine Psychology with consent to speak with their current clinician.
